“This is a great first book from this brand-new author. Not my usual genre but nevertheless a good read. The plot twists and turns and is anything but predictable. Introduction to the characters gives the reader an immediate sense of who they are, with complex back stories and an immediacy on the page. I’m sure that as we get to know them as the series progresses, we will become more invested in them. The ending was a real cliffhanger, leaving you wanting to read the next instalment. If it had been available, I would have bought it straight away but sadly not, I will just have to wait for book 2 ‘Awakening’.” 

Reading Karen’s review genuinely means a lot to me, especially knowing this isn’t her usual genre. It makes me very happy that the twists, characters and pacing still pulled her in. I always hoped readers would feel connected to the people in the story and want to follow them beyond the first book, so hearing she would have picked up the next one immediately is truly rewarding.
